Making The Most Of Your 20's - I Quit My Job And Left The Country

Austin Tx blogger fashion

The last month has been the craziest of my whole life.

Last week I turned 25 whilst watching the Northern Lights in Iceland with my love and some of my favourite friends, two days later I was boarding a plane to Austin Texas.

One day the boy rang me up and asked if I would be up for moving to America for a few months as his work wanted him to help out in the office in Austin, TX. My head was spinning with excitement and I said yes. The next day I handed in my notice at work and then we spent the following few weeks packing up our life, I even managed to squeeze in a sinus surgery!

Now I'm writing this post from our apartment in Austin Texas! Am I crazy to just pack up my life and my job and just leave? Maybe, but I believe that our 20's is the one time in our life when we should do some things that scare us and take some risks. After all we'll have plenty of time to be responsible grown up adults right?! Maybe I'll have an amazing time or maybe I'll regret it but in the long run at least I won't be wondering what if. I don't know anyone here and that's scary but I'm hoping that in the next few months I'll make some new friends and some awesome memories and in the meantime I know that my friends from home are just at the other end of the phone.

I've been in Austin for 3 days so far and I think I'm really going to like it here. The good news is that since I won't be working for a few months I'm going to be blogging a whole lot more! I'm so excited to spend more time creating content and also having more time to actually read other blogs.

  12. I totally disagree with this post!

Any age is the right age to do something that scared you. So very weel done to just follow your heart and try something!!!
I didn't start backpacking until I took a year off at age 32, and since, I've transitioned to a full-on nomad lifestyle. Does it scare me? Every day! But we only have one life.

Have fun in Texas, happy exploring & happy blogging!

  20. What an exciting move to make! I was 24 and moved out to France for a winter season to be a Chalet Girl. Now I look back almost 4 years later I am so glad I packed up and wandered off to the alps for 5 months! Enjoy every moment!

  22. This sounds like such an exciting move! I wish I was brave enough to do something like this - I spent so long agonising over the decision to just move to London!

My boyfriend is an actor though and there is a very real possibility of us one day having to move to LA so maybe I'll get the opportunity to bite that bullet one day! I'm so glad Texas is treating you well so far! XO
