I've been exploring, making friends, eating great food and doing lots of yoga. The (temporary) move has been made so much easier by having the boy by my side. We have been together for exactly 6 years and people have been asking us for years when we would get married. That question quite frankly was rather annoying because I was completely happy with how things were, I was in no rush. In all honesty it's only in the last year that the idea of getting married stopped freaking me out and I started feeling quite excited at the idea of the boy proposing. I guess it was just a natural progression and a sign of growing up. I started making wedding inspired pinterest boards and even looking at engagement rings with my girlfriends(lets be honest most of us do it...).
I suggested that we go to watch the sunset at Mount Bonnel, one of Austins most beautiful spots as it was recommended to us by our friends as a "must do" thing. The boy thought it was a great idea and told me to made sure I brought my camera. As a travel blogger I didn't think anything of it, I take my camera almost everywhere I go! I love taking photos and I love being in photos, however Oli isn't usually too keen. That evening however we let me take photos of us without any protest then literally seconds later after the below photo was taken (sorry for the extra cheesyness!) he asked if I rememberd a little drawing he did for me when we first going out which said 'The Most Beautiful View Is The One I Share With You' and I said of course! He then told me that he wanted that to continue and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
It was a rollercoaster of emotions but mainly I was just so shocked, I honestly had no idea that he was planning to propose! Then the wave of happiness and excitement followed. I'm one of those girls who isn't into traditional engagement rings ( which I made sure I that I casually let him know one time we were walking past a jewellery store) so I've always been nervous about what ring he would get me. To my delight though I absolutely love it! It's delicate and minimalist and I can tell he put a lot of thought into it because he got someone to design it and make it. I can't stop staring at my hand!!
You can see just how excited I am and the ring at the end of my Austin catch up vlog which was filmed moments before and after the proposal happened.
Have you got any words of wisdom you would like to pass on? I hope planning a wedding isn't as stressful as everyone makes it out to be...
Until next time,
You can also find me in all of these places!

DeleteWow!! How very exciting! Congratulations to you both!
ReplyDeletePlan your wedding for you...not everyone else. Really think about who to invite, I got married 4 years ago and my invite list would be completely different now!!

Thank you so much! This is the best advice! We're having a small wedding so it's already getting hard to think of who to invite haha
