The Hedonist Project - Liquor and Whisky

Liquor and Whisky Bar LeedsOver the summer months Leeds had a pop up Rum bar - The Rum Shack, which everyone I know absolutely adored. Fast forward a few month and the Hedonist Project are back with with a more permanent and more polished location. The concept is very simple. Every 3 months they will change the bars concept. This will include changing the decor, the food menu, the drinks and even the name.

First is up is The Liquor Store & Whisky Parlour. I got invited to the launch night and I have to say I have really fell in love with the place.  The interior of the bar itself  is intimate and cosy, with a warm ambience, rustic decor and superb attention to detail. There's candles, beatiful flowers, exposed brick work and hanging bulb lights. It's the perfect winter hideaway.
I'm actually a little sad that it's going to be gone in 3 months because I love whiskey, but I'm also quite picky when it comes to whisky and the drinks at the Liquor Store & Whisky Parlour really hit the spot, but of course how couldn't it when they have over 60 whisky's to choose from!

We were given a cocktails Masterclass, which I have to say was incredible. The guys behind the bar have perfected the best whisky cocktails that I have ever tasted. Even the girls who don't usually like whisky were loving them and that's saying something! It was really fascinating to learn all about the ingredients used in the cocktails and the reasons why they work so well together.
All of the cocktails we got to try were gorgeous in their own way, but I have to say that the show stopper for me was the Salted Caramel Rusty Nail, complete with a side-serving  of Lagavulin fudge. It was literally like heaven. In my mouth. Honestly, I can't wait to go back and order that again.

After the cocktail Masterclass we had a Whisky tasting session led by a gentleman (who's name I can't remember!)  from the whisky powerhouse Diageo.

We got to try the 4 following Whisky's:

  • Haig Club single Grain Whisky
  • Dalwhinnie 15yr old Single Malt Whisky
  • Talisker Port Ruighe Single Malt Whisky
  • Singleton SunRay Single malt whisky
I had never tried any of them apart from the Talisker, and I have to say every single one tasted very different. Haig is a young whisky therefore it's very sharp, but it has a very delicious fudge like after taste. I personally love smooth and sweet tasting whisky's but despite the sharpness I really loved Haig. We also got to try a few nibbles from their food menu which went incredibly well with all the different Whiskys. I can't wait to head back there and to the full portions, the mini slider burger topped with bloody Mary ketchup was so so good.

  1. I'm not normally a huge whisky fan but that saluted caramel one with the fudge on the side would definitely sway me to come here and try it. It looks so delicious! The decor the bar looks gorg too. There are so many cool places in Leeds!
