3 New Bars & Restaurants You Need To Visit In Leeds

In Leeds we are spoilt for choice for food and drinks, the food and drink scene is great and lucky for us it's just got even better!

I've recently visited the following 3 bars / restaurants and I was so impressed that I decided you absolutely need to visit them too.

Mr Nobody - Restaurant & Cocktail Bar

Mr Nobody is like nothing else I've experienced in Leeds so far. It's a two floor space with an awesome outside garden (which is going to be a regular spot of mine in the summer!). The first floor offers casual dining along with delicious cocktails and drinks. Their food menu serves up Tapas, but not the Spanish kind that I was expecting. The menu offers over 60 dishes and some of them are of Asian influence, some of them are British classics. It's a really broad and interesting menu which has something for everyone.
They also offer meat and cheese boards, some of which I had a chance to try and I have to say it was very good!

The downstairs area is much darker and more intimate suited more for a sophisticated evening meal, I think it's the perfect restaurant for a romantic date night!
Some of my favourites from the menu that I had the pleasure of trying were the mouth watering smoked salmon, the crispy belly pork, which was seasoned beautifully and the layer of fat was very thin. It was actually the first time I tried crispy belly pork and genuinely loved it.

Hedonist Project Old Tom’s Gin Kitchen

The second bar which is an absolute must visit is The Hedonist Project’s Old Tom’s Gin Kitchen. If you follow my blog, then you might know that I’ve actually reviewed the Hedonist Project a few months ago back when it was a whisky bar (you can read it here) .  The really interesting thing about this bar is that it completely changes its concept, décor and menu every three months. I was recently invited to sample all that Gin Kitchen has to offer and I straight up loved it! I’ve actually been back twice since.
This time the décor is much lighter than before, perfect for the cocktail sipping summer months ahead. The cocktails are still original and absolutely delicious. In particular I would say that their cocktail Vera Lyne is what strawberries dreams are made off

The one thing that really took me by surprise was how good the food was. We got to taste some starters, main courses and desserts and they were all fantastic. I would particularly recommend the beef or the salmon with lentils. As well as being mega delicious all of the food is really affordable too, I think the breakfast brunch menu starts at £4 and the main are around £10. For all the unfortunate souls who have to be gluten free like me I have great news! They have brilliant gluten free options! I actually had a poached egg and avocado on gluten free bread and it was glorious.**I have to give a special thanks to Hayley from Tea Party Beauty for being an amazing gin tasting partner and letting me share her camera and her photos because I forgot my camera battery...

 Banyan Bar

Banyan bar is the newest addition to the Leeds food and drink scene and it’s a good one.  The restaurant/bar has two floors and a large outside seating area which will be perfect in the summer for sipping drinks in the sun.
The décor of the bar is very cool and actually pretty different to anything else in Leeds at the minute. It reminds of a posh private library, the kind you only see in old Hollywood films.

They hosted a bloggers preview evening where I got to sample some of their cocktails and delicious food.  The one thing that really impressed me is that they fully catered for my gluten intolerance and prepared a special platter of tasty treats just for me and they did the same for another blogger who is a vegan.  I mentioned this to the bar manager and he said that if someone comes to the restaurant with a special dietary need they will always do their best to cater for them. They have a breakfast/brunch menu along with a full evening menu so Banyan is a great option for any time of the day!

Out of all the drinks we tried the one which I would have never ever thought to order, but turned out to be my favorite was a rum and raisin cocktail. It sounds like such a strange combination to me, but it was so so nice and I will most definitely be coming back to have another one of those and to try the full food menu very soon.
