Since Almost Famous opened in Leeds last year I have heard only good things about the restaurant. So many of my
First thing first, before I even got to any of the food I was already impressed. Their restaurant decor is so funky, and quite frankly not like anything I've seen before. It's quite dark and atmospheric but there's also lots of

I was then shown to my table where I joined Gabby from whatshebuys , Rhianna from Robowecop, Joe from Northernblood and some other lovely bloggers.
Whilst we took a couple of pictures our cocktails had arrived. The staff had decided to surprise us with a concoction that they've made up, which turned out to be amazing! I think it was an experiment cocktail so it wasn't on the menu, but it had hints of peach and apple and was incredibly fruity and refreshing. The second cocktail was equally as tasty and beautifully presented.
We were then treated to some Mac & Cheese balls and an amazing mix of chicken wings. The marmite wings were a particular winner for me.
We were then told a little more about the restaurant and how it's come to be. One of the owners went travelling around America and fell in love with the food, so much so he brought some of it back all the way to the UK for everyone else to try! Their menu is inspired by the best American meals that they've tried with an Almost Famous twist. They've just started working with a new butcher who provides meat for michelin starred restaurants and so they are very proud of the quality of their meat.
It was interesting to hear a little back story about a restaurant who started as a pop up burger shack in Manchester only a couple of years ago. Now they have a restaurant in Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool and a reputation that truly does make them Almost Famous.
Next up we were told that we were going to be given ALL of their different types of fries to try, I think in total there was 6! Also we all picked our own burgers from the menu.
I decided to try a burger with a pretzel bun, because it sounded too good to pass up, especially when there is only one more place in the whole of the UK who serve them. I went for the 'Jonny Drama' which is a double burger with cheese, flat iron steak melt , pickles, peppercorn sauce, garlic salt, shoestring fries and million island sauce.
I feel like words can't fully express what I thought of the burger so I'm going to use this gif :
This is going to be a very big statement, but I think it has to be the BEST burger I've had in Leeds.
Oh and the friest ! There were so many, we had pulled pork fries, hot dog fries , marmite waffle fries, bacon fries and more! They were all very very good. Although as you can see the portions are humongous so order with caution!
Until next time,
I went to Leeds a few months ago and this was the only place I wanted to go! I'd read so many great things that I just knew I had to try it. I was really impressed, but wow was I full when I left!

I don't live anywhere near Leeds but I had to read about this place because the décor is so cool and quirky! I absolutely adore that 'Follow the dreams' - I want it for by my front door!
ReplyDeleteI'm not ridiculously jealous that there isn't an Almost Famous in Scotland though - I need (all of) those fries in my life immediately.

Great post! I live on the doorstep of Leeds but like yourself have not been to Almost Famous (how is that possible). After reading your review I know I need to fix that and go and try the Marmite wings which sound amazing, as well as all the other lovely foodie things. =^-^=

I can't believe I've not been here yet! It literally is the definition of food porn from your pictures. And that burger? Christ, it looks incredible!
