Most of my nights out in Leeds end in Mojo Bar. Often dancing on tables until early hours in the morning to the rolling stones or other rock and roll classics, before making my way to the take away for some bed time cheesy chips. Such is the lifestyle of a 23 year old.
So you can imagine my delight and excitement when SLP PR emailed me to invite me to Mojo Food Launch menu tasting. My first reaction was - Whaaaat they do food there?! My second reaction was - I'm seriously definitely going!
It was really quite bizarre seeing Mojo's in daylight. It's much more colourful than I imagined! It also definitely has a very American vibe, which of course their food menu reflects also.
The first tasters we were presented with included mac & cheese balls with spicy jalapeno, beer battered pickles and mixed veg quesedillas . Even though I absolutely love pickles and pretty much everything pickled for that matter, I wasn't too keen on the beer batter, to me it didn't really add much, but the boys on the other hand absolutely loved it, so I guess it's a matter of preference! My absolute favorite were the quesedillas , I would definitely order them again, they were tasty!
Whilst we waited for the next round of food to be cooked (the cooks were under some serious pressure with so many people there!) we got presented with another round of gorgeous cocktails and beers for the guys. The one on the left was a smooth slow gin millionaire cocktail which I could have again and again. I don't remember what the other cocktail was called, but it was also gin based and also really good! Although I'm a fan of gin, I've never really tried many gin based cocktails. I must say I was impressed.
Next up it was time for the stars of the show, their delightful mouth watering Chicken Wings and tasty Burgers.
For the chicken wings we had Mojo Louisiana no 1 which were served crispy, Lousiana no 2 which were coated in their secret hot sauce and Peanut butter and strawberry jam wings. Yes, you did read that right. We had wings with peanut butter and strawberry jam, which very much to my surprise kind of worked... The guys at the table absolutely loved them, whereas even though I thought they were alright I personally much preferred both Louisianna wings.
Ah, they were SO SO good. In fact, I wouldn't turn some down right now and it's only 6.52 am. I can't recommend enough that you go and give them a try.
For the burgers we got to try a classic beef burger and a vegetarian beetroot and bean burger. The meaty burger was juicy and tasty just how a burger should be, the vegetarian option was nice, but I probably wouldn't order it again because in my opinion, it wasn't half as good as the real deal, but of course was a meat eater I probably would say that.
When asked if we wanted some more food, we just couldn't say no so to my
I was really, really impressed with the food at Mojo Bar and the staff were so friendly and welcoming! It was one of my favourite blogger events I have attended as of late and I can't wait to go back and have some more of those fantastic wings!
Until next time,
