When the lovely bunch from Pink Gorilla invited to sample the new summer menu at The New Conservatory in Leeds I simply couldn't say no.
Any event which involves food is usually a yes from me, what can I say, I love to eat!
Although I have walked past the New Conservatory many times I've never actually made my way inside, so I was really excited to pay it a visit and to taste their menu. Naturally the boy, who also adores food was delighted to be my plus 1.
The atmosphere in the restaurant/bar was so vibrant, we got there just before 7 but it was already full and there was a beautiful live band playing too. They actually host an open mic night every Thursday at The New
We ordered some complimentary drinks and then got seated at our table.
I absolutely love the decor of the restaurant area, it looks like an old library, complimented with some lovely fairy lights, I can imagine it would be the perfect setting for a Christmas Party!
Whilst we were waiting for our food to come I convinced the boy to take a photo of me, because no outing is complete without a nice photo of yourself to go with it right?! I even managed to get a nice photo of him too, which is really quite miraculous because he hates the camera.
The starter was absolutely wonderful!
We had deep fried Brie with a beet-root chutney, panko king prawns with a chilli sauce and duck springroll with a hoisin dip. It was absolutely delicious and even though I am writing this post at 7 am I would totally have it again right now.
The Main course consisted of wild mushroom risotto with a parmesan crisp, cajun chicken skewers and belly pork with mash and gravy.
The chicken skewers and chips are a very safe option on the menu but were still absolutely delicious! The risotto was lovely and creamy but without being too sickly, I could have easily eaten a full portion of it. I'm not a very big fan of belly pork at all, but I actually enjoyed it, the mash and the gravy went really well with it.
The stars of the show for me were definitely the desserts!
There was salted caramel cheesecake ( which must be one of the best cheesecakes I have ever tried! Definitely coming back to have this again) a chocolate mousse with a layer of caramel inside it and a mixed berry eton mess sundae. All three desserts were so so good. I'm a massive lover of caramel so they really hit the spot.
Me and the boy had a wonderful meal at The New Conservatory and I can honestly say that we'll be making our way back there again very soon.
Until next time,
Oh my goodness this place is so cute! I love all the books. Also, deep fried Brie?! Yumm. The desserts look gorg too, as do you!!
