I don't know about you, but I've always wondered what it's like to enter a beauty pageant. When I was younger, I really loved Miss Congeniality so when I got the opportunity to do a photoshoot with Miss Yorkshire 2015 I couldn't say no, mainly because I wanted to ask her lots of questions!
Below are some of the photos from the photoshoot and Hannah answers what it's Really like to be a Beauty Queen.

What made you want to enter a beauty pageant?
I also believe beauty pageants will help me get back into modelling and help me get into physic modelling.
What does it take to become a beauty queen?
What has been the most challenging in the contest?
To date - making sure you are happy with your chosen outfits and you feel they suit you best and will shine at the competition.
For miss international and intercontinental you don't have to showcase talents, but there are other beauty pageants that you do.
Do you have to showcase your talents like in the films?
Are all the girls nice to each other or is it very competitive?
All the girls are nice. We love to support each other and chat about outside activities. But yeah you are in a competition - but really we are all winners and have done great to get so far so we get on well to be honest. It's lovely meeting other girls that have similar interests too.
What preparation do you have to do before the Miss UK Final?
Appearances: promote my achievement throughout Yorkshire by going to events and openings. All the appearances count towards the final grading.
Catwalk prep: I am currently being trained by the current Miss Intercontinental title holder.
Interview prep too.
Charity platform: you really need to have a platform to work towards. Mine is cancer research - so raising awareness and money for that cause is vital.
What was your reaction when you found out you won the Miss Yorkshire title?
What advice would you give girls who are considering entering?
If they wish to follow in my footsteps then beauty contests can develop talent, your ability to smile in the most extreme conditions; walk with confidence and speak with clarity and definition. These are life-tasks that contestants take with them in all aspects of daily life. These skills can truly make you a well-rounded, confident and capable individual.
The contests can really help people understand disappointment. Not everyone is a winner all the time. Some people never win. But the most successful contestant is one who takes a loss and turns it into a win by handling her disappointment with aplomb. Being sincerely happy for another person shows a generosity of spirit. This trait marks a confident individual, one who will be a winner in life.
Has the contest been everything that you expected?
What has been your favourite bit of the experience so far?
I love that competing is building my self-confidence. The ability to get up in front of an audience will develop a
Is there anywhere that we can keep up with your journey?

Ah thanks Sarah!! :) xx
DeleteThis is such an interesting post, Deimante. Beauty pageants have always intrigued me - I think they do have a bit of a negative reputation, so it's actually so refreshing to hear the opinion of someone who actually takes part in one, rather than just criticises them on the internet/in the newspaper!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs as well.
