Festival Season - A Glastonbury Love Story

I had been to a couple of music festivals before but never to Glastonbury, and it had been on my list for a few years. I remember the day that me and my friend decided that we were determined to go! We were sat in a boat converted into a pub drinking cider (instead of being at the library doing uni work…) and getting excited about the experience we were going to have.

One sunny and very warm summer evening me and my friend Kate were drinking cooled wine on the terrace and decided that we needed a holiday. There and then we put a credit card to good use and booked a getaway to Zadar in Croatia. I am now so thankful for our spontaneity on that gorgeous sunny evening as it gave us the opportunity to explore, make memories and soak up the last of the summer sunshine. Below I share with you the things you must do if you visit!

The Grainary Farm Getaway & Gluten Free Sunday Roast Dinner

Living in the city is great, we have bars, restaurants and shops on our door step but the one thing I miss the most is nature. Fresh air, trees, and the sounds of birds chirping. Unfortunately the one thing that can make going away for the weekend a little more of a challenge is my gluten intolerance. When the Grainary farm got in touch with me about their gluten free Sunday roast dinner I just knew we had to pay them a visit!

USA Road Trip - Hooverdam an Grand Canyon

Travel posts are some of my absolute favourite to read because I live in a permanent state of wanderlust. They're also my favourite posts to write and I plan to have many many more feature on sunnydei, however they are also the most time consuming and that's the reason why this post about my USA roadtrip has been left in drafts for a few months now.
Last March me, the boy and our three friends went on a two week road trip around California, Arizona and Nevada. It was a trip filled with uncontrollable laughter, breathtaking sights and delicious foods.

The Lake District - My Favourite Place

I have lived in England for almost six years and in this time I've tried to go exploring and visit the seaside, new cities and little towns. In all honesty though nothing has quite matched up to The Lake District. I absolutely love it there, it is hands down my favourite place in England. The lakes are so beautiful that if it wasn't for the English weather I wouldn't believe that I wasn't abroad. The little towns and villages surrounding it are cute, colourful and full of character.

Birthday weekend and Ox Pasture Hall review

I have just turned 24. To be honest, I can't quite believe it yet, I still feel like I'm 21! It's weird to think that I'm pretty much almost in my mid twenties. In order to celebrate and to distract me from the fact that I'm getting closer to my thirties me and the boy decided to get away from Leeds for a couple of days.
I celebrated my birthday by the seaside and we had an amazing time. We went to Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby and Scarborough with an overnight stay at Ox Pasture Hall Hotel.

Barcelona City Break

For the boys birthday in August I booked us a little suprise getaway to Barcelona. I booked it all on his laptop and the browser pre-filled all of my details however it used his phone number. The next day I had a text from him saying "Some guy just rang me about a Barcelona trip?" so yeah it wasn't a surprise any longer!

Thailand Adventure and Travel Advice Part 2

Two years ago I went backpacking around Thailand with my buddy Jake. Thailand is a beautiful country with luscious jungles, sandy beaches, amazing food and very happy, friendly people. Going travelling after I graduated was one of the best decisions I've ever made!

Things You Have To Do in Thailand (Part 1)

This time two years ago I was backpacking around Thailand with my friend Jake. I can honestly say it's one of the best things I have ever ever done. If you're considering going to Thailand or somewhere else in Asia I would say just do it!

Thailand is a stunning country with luscious jungles, sandy golden beaches, AMAZING food and very happy, friendly people.

Golden Acre Park - Beautiful Day Out

I love nature and I love exploring. Even more so when the said exploring can be done in the sun.

Golden Acre Park in Leeds is the perfect place for sunny summer strolls and picnics.

Last week me and the boy decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and have a picnic date in the sun.

The park is full of green open spaces which are perfect for a picnic or some sunbathing! Golden Acre Park has beautiful gardens full of colourful flowers (some of which I have never seen before!) and a very scenic walk around the lake and if picnics aren't your thing you can have some cake and tea at the popular tearooms.

The lake is just absolutely stunning, it really didn't feel like we were still in Leeds whilst we were at the park. It's hard to believe that such a beautiful place is situated only a 15 minute drive away from the city centre.

It was such a beautiful warm day that I even got to wear one of my favourite summer dresses!

One of my very favourite flowers are Lilalcs. When I was a little girl I used to play in a garden full of Lilac bushes and their wonderful smell of them meant that summer was coming. Now every time I spot a Lilac bush I just feel the need to smell the beautiful blossoms. I got very excited when I discovered that there's a whole little garden dedicated to Lilacs. If you want to have a look at these beautiful flowers you better be quick as their season of bloom is almost over!

After our wonderful walk we settled down for a picnic of sandwiches, homemade cookies and a scrumptious fruit salad!

Golden Acre Park is the perfect setting for a summer day out with your family, friends or that special someone and I can't recommend it highly enough. It's one of the most beautiful parks in Leeds and I will certainly be coming back more than once this summer!

Leeds Feast

On Friday I received what I could only describe as my favourite tweet to date from the guys behind Leeds Feast.
They informed that I won two tickets to the food festival and £50 worth of food and drinks vouchers to spend over the weekend. My day was made there and then!
I very rarely win anything so some part of me didn't fully believe it until, I was handed the passes and the vouchers.

Hebden Bridge - A love story

A little while ago me and the boy had a day out in the gorgeous Hebden Bridge.

I've been there a couple of times before with work and completely fell in love. I could spend hours upon hours in most of the cute boutique shops there.

We wandered around the canal and the town center before making our way to the Organic House for some scrumptious lunch.

They have a great selection of freshly squeezed juices and in the colder weather they do a special hot juice called the 'Flut Shot'. I was feeling a little under the weather and this juice definitely picked me up! It consisted of apples, oranges, ginger and some other magical ingredients.

The boy tried out one of their available craft beers. Beer is always his drink of choice.

I ordered a delicious vegetarian burrito but had it on nachos instead of the wrap. All of the ingredients were so fresh that each bite provided with an explosion of flavours in my mouth.

After our lunch we walked over to the Heart Gallery. I could have stayed in there forever. There were unique jewellery pieces, art prints, creative kitchen utensils and more.

I loved that little corner display, I had Oli take a photo of my outfit.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Heather Wilson, a very talented and skilled hat and textiles maker who has a little work space inside the gallery.

She has a display of miniature zodiac inspired costumes which she created for her degree show; I thought they were amazing. Heather explained to me that the materials they were made from represented something characteristic of each zodiac sign.

As we were wandering around we also came across the Spirals Fair trade shop. There were lots of organic, locally made beauty products to choose from as well as some stunning homeware.

Another shop which we just had to go into because the window display was so stunning, was the Radiance lighting boutique. If we are ever looking for new lights we will definitely be making our way back there!

So I've saved the best for last. The Willow Garden, the most beautiful florist shop I have ever seen. It felt like I walked into a fairytale. I wanted to buy everything and anything. We must have spent about 45 minutes in there having a look at all the plants and ornaments they had on display.

We picked three different types of flowers to buy, but after a quick search on the internet we quickly learned that unfortunately all of them were poisonous to cats (sad face). We didn't leave empty handed though, we bought this stunning vintage cage with a tea light holder. It looks so gorgeous out on our terrace, we both agree that it's the best purchase we have made in a long time!

If you get a chance you must take a trip down to Hebden Bridge, I'm sure you won't be dissapointed! We will definitely be taking another trip there in the summer.
